I think it’s a stupid design but it only takes like 2 minutes to get like 9 more hours of charge, at which point you could leave it plugged in overnight or something to get it back to full. Not defending the choice but their workarounds aren’t the worst
The most obvious spot for the charger is where the wire normally would be

I think I remember someone telling me that it was intentional because they didn’t want people to use the mouse plugged in and just leave it plugged in.
Because then it wouldn’t be a wireless mouse.
I’m not sure how true that is but that’s what I heard
I have an adapter that converts it to MagSafe. I just pop it on a qi charger when it gets low. And my desktop battery widget lets me know when I need to do so.
